Portland: Fibromyalgia and Sleep Disorders Scientific Conference, October 2-4 - Presentations by World Experts

The National Fibromyalgia Research Association (NFRA) announces the 2008 Fibromyalgia and Sleep Disorders Scientific Conference in Portland, Oregon, October 2-4.

Fifteen leaders in the studies of fibromyalgia and sleep disorders will report on: 1) The growing body of scientific evidence that connects these two conditions, and 2) Guidelines and best practices for improving clinical outcomes in the management of fibromyalgia and sleep disorders.   • Evaluate the relationship between fibromyalgia and insomnia
  • Explain the impact of aging on the sleep/wake cycle
  • Discuss common neurochemical pathways mediating the experience of pain and insomnia and describe treatment options based upon them
  • Identify key aspects in history-taking to assess pain's impact on sleep, and integrate insomnia management into the treatment of pain
